Acne & Pore Reduction

  /    /  Acne & Pore Reduction

Acne remains one of the most common dermatological problems and affects more than 85% of all teenagers and over 30% of adults. Acne is the term used for plugged pores (blackheads and whiteheads) and includes inflammatory acne (papules, pustules, nodules or cysts) that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. Acne is a chronic dermatological disease and can be both upsetting and disfiguring. In serious cases, inflammatory acne can result in prolonged discomfort and permanent scarring. There are many ways to approach the treatment of acne, including topical or oral medication, chemical peeling, and laser therapy.

Spectra Laser Peel™ is a unique and effective skin resurfacing treatment. Spectra Laser Peel utilizes both mechanical and thermal exfoliation to precisely remove 40 to 60 μm of tissue. Spectra Laser Peel is one of the most effective and innovative non-ablative skin resurfacing procedures available today. This two-step thermal resurfacing process shows dramatic results with acne scar, active acne lesions, large pore size reduction and fine wrinkle reduction. Incurring minimal downtime, patients can return to their normal activity immediately after treatment.

Because the outermost layer of dead skin cells is gently removed, the dermal cells associated with skin regeneration (fibroblasts, mast cells, and macrophage cells) are stimulated, resulting in collagen remodeling and controlled resurfacing. The skin surface is improved in tone and texture including a reduction in wrinkles and scars.

How Many Treatments Are Required?

Sebum, nodular and cystic lesions begin to reduce in size after the 1st treatment with SpectraPeel™. After 3 or more treatments within a 2-3 week period, you can expect dramatically improved results. Once inflamed acne has been treated, red spot and acne counts should be noticeably reduced.

How Long Will The Clinical Results Last?

While laser treatments are considered to be long lasting, they are not permanent. To maintain clinical results and your improved skin condition, follow-up treatments at regular intervals (every 2-3 months) are recommended. Carefully follow your physician’s instruction on skin care and avoid excessive exposure to the sun.

How Much Improvement Can I Expect?

You can expect visible improvements after the first treatment and continuous improvement after each subsequent treatment. Active acne will be considerably reduced. People with both acne and/or severe sun damaged skin, actinic keratoses, poor skin texture or uneven pigmentation will also see excellent results. SpectraPeel™ improves the appearance of large pores and some acne scars.

How Do Other Treatments Compare To SpectraPeel™

Unlike other laser procedures, SpectraPeel™ is virtually painless and is used with a chiller to make the skin cold and decrease topical sensation. The treatment offers a greater margin of safety than any other laser facial rejuvenation with predictable and consistent results. Ask your physician about SpectraPeel™ by name.
